Ruben is a dog in a million a real SUPER STAR
His father Mungo, "Ch Amalek I Got Rhythm", acrued 16 Challenge Certificates and 10 Reserve Challenge Certificates during his show career, 1999 to 2004. Mungo picked up another Res. C.C. in 2008 at 10 years young and another at Darlington on the 20th September 2009 at the grand age of 11 years. The Dog Challenge Certificates on both occasions went to his son, Ruben. Mungo was the only English Toy Terrier to be placed in the Toy Group at Crufts for over 20 years. Ruben was shortlisted in the Group at Crufts in 2009 by Toy Specialist Mr. Tom Mather JP.
Champion Amalek I Got Rhythm "Mungo"
"LIKE FATHER LIKE SON"
On Ruben's show debut at 6 months old on the day (17th July 2007) he took the Reserve Dog Challenge Certificate. The Certificate went to his kennel mate Champion Witchstone Heads Or Tails. At Welsh Kennel Club he was Reserve to his kennel mate Champion Witchstone Changeofheart and at City of Birmingham he beat Champion Witchstone Heads Or Tails to take his first Challenge Certificate.
He gained his title in May 2008 just before he was 16 months old.
He has been in the top two dog placings since he entered the Show Ring in July 2007 a real credit to the Witchstone breeding programme.
On the 15th July 2008 at the East of England Championship Dog Show Ruben won Best Dog in our breed under judge Miss V. Williams and he then went on to win the daily heat of the PetPlan Junior Stakes under judge Mr. Max King (AV Hound Terrier or Toy).
We returned again on Thursday 17th July 2008 to compete against the two other day winners.
Fortunately, Mr. Max King felt that Ruben was worthy of winning the heat and he qualified for the prestigious PetPlan Junior Stakes Final which is to be held at Kempton Park Racecourse on Wednesday the 8th October 2008.(see my news page for a full report of the event)
Ruben is now the third English Toy Terrier to qualify for this event:-
Champion Sobahn Black Bonnet at Witchstone - 2003
Champion Witchstone Heads Or Tails - 2006
Champion Witchstone Free's A Crowd - 2008
Ruben finished 2008 on 11 points making him TOP ENGLISH TOY TERRIER DOG. He was beaten by 1 point, Champion Witchstone Telling Tails (Harry's sister Lizzie) had 12 points making her Top English Toy Terrier Bitch and TOP ENGLISH TOY TERRIER 2008.

Mrs. Brenda Taylor wrote of his debut at 6 months on the day:
"well balanced youngster, rich colouring, excellent wedge shaped head, good eye & ears, excels in neck, shoulders & stifles with firm topline, good tailset & coat. Perfect temperament for one so young showing & moving like a veteran keeping lovely typical outline. Stunning puppy who shows great promise. RCC & BP".
Mrs. Ferelith Somerfield wrote of his first Challenge Certificate at 7 months old:
"very good puppy, pleasing head, good neck, shoulders & front, very good bone, legs & feet, nice markings, moved well to take the C.C. & BP with style".
Mr. Max King wrote of his PetPlan Junior Stakes Qualification:
"Gordon & Leonard's Ch Witchstone Free's A Crowd. English Toy Terrier. Could not deny this arrogant & outgoing youngster, very well put together, good well filled head, well set eye, straight front, compact body with correct curve, real drive & fluidity in movement"
Mrs. Ferelith Somerfield wrote of his BEST OF BREED at Crufts on the 6th March 2009:
"Lovely dog, good neck, shoulders, front, legs and feet, nice outline, well made hindquarters, moved and showed well C.C. & Best of Breed. I was delighted to see him shortlisted in the group".
Mr. Terry Nethercott wrote of his TOY GROUP FOUR at Bath Championship Dog Show on the 22nd May 2009:
Very good specimen of the breed, excellent head & expression, good body plenty of depth, moved with plenty of drive, handled to get the best out of him.
Mrs. Jill Peake wrote of his C.C. & BOB at Darlington on the 20th September 2009:
"Lovely breed type, good head, expression, good neck and front, good bone, legs and feet, good body and outline, moved well both ways and in profile. BD, CC and BOB".
Mr. Geoffrey Davies wrote of his TOY GROUP TWO at South Wales Kennel Association on the 9th October 2009:
With this exhibit you get exactly what you see: a totally sound, perfectly constructed dog built on clean lines. He is unmistakably male without being in the slightest bit coarse. His movement is precise, which reflects his true soundness. Presented in magnificent condition and perfect muscle tone, he is a good ambassador for the breed.
"Mr. Tom Mather wrote of his C.C. & BOB at South Wales Kennel Association on the 9th October 2009:
"good quality dog whom I liked when he was in the group at Crufts earlier in the year; good head and eye, well bodied with adequate depth of chest and very typical topline with good tailset and carriage, strong well muscled hind quarters enabled him to move soundly and with some drive, in top-top condition with dense well marked coat, caught the eye of the group judge later in the day CC & BOB"
Miss Vanessa Cox wrote of his C.C. & BOB at Birmingham National on the 6th May 2010:
"stood out in the male entry today, I liked his overall size and well-balanced proportions. Masculine and throughly mature in appearance he has a shapely body, narrow but deep chest, loins well cut up and a good turn of stifle. In gleaming thick glossy coat. Pleasing head, lovely ear carriage, eye could be a bit darker as could his tan colouring. Comes into his own on the move, his very good construction is clearly evident with very free and flowing movement with drive behind, in my opinion, he probably out moved the entire entry today. Clear DCC and BOB".
